Saturday to Thursday = 1578 miles. It's been an adventure, but if I had it do over again I wouldn't be so ambitious to do so many miles in so few days. But we did what we did with the time that we had and I'd have to say that we'll have some memories, good or bad, after this vacation. Lindsay loved it. I had a grand time. I don't think Murr liked it much, but he's just lucky he got to go along for the ride without getting kicked out somewhere along the way.
Total $ for gas = $678.72. Total gallons used = 173.52. The $ amount for gas was 3.85 per gallon at all places except it was 3.96 in Chilhowie, VA, and 3.93 in Flatonia, Tx. It seems we got pretty good gas mileage out of the old POS RV after all. We have to return it to Manassas, VA, on Saturday and that's about 60 miles away from here and it needs to have 3/4 of a tank in it, so we may have to add a little more, but I had budgeted between $800 - $1,000 just for gas and I'm very pleased it's going to be at or below that.
My plan to visit Monticello on the way to Howard's house didn't happen because we stayed an extra day at the last campground, but Lindsay and I and Theresa are going to do that tomorrow. Howard got a phone call before we went to eat saying that his elderly dad had fallen and so he had to take off to the hospital to be with him, and unfortunately his dad is going to have to have surgery tomorrow. Hopefully all will go well for him and his family.
I know I've said it several times in the last few posts, but I miss you guys!
