We closed down the office on Friday the 18th and headed to the cabins. We've had a sign posted for the last couple of weeks stating that we were going to be closed on that day and everyone kept questioning us as to our plans, so we decided to tell everyone we were going on a Team Building Retreat, and we weren't really lying. Judge Rodriguez has been doing double duty for the last 6 months since Judge Warner has been out of the office battling throat cancer and is exhausted to say the least. As for the rest of us it's been 6 months of worrying about him and working hard since we haven't replaced Rosanna yet in the office. Needless to say we all needed a much deserved break.
So Judge Rodriguez w/ her 2 boys (14 & 20), Rene w/ her 2 boys (5 & 14), and Lindsay & I all met there Friday morning. When we first starting planning this weekend thing it started out being a Mom & kids weekend, but then I decided we better invite Murr along so he could help entertain the kids and take them fishing, and he could also help us cook, etc. He ended up getting out there Friday afternoon.
The water was beautiful and clear and cool, and really the temperature wasn't that bad. The evenings were nice and cool and the mornings were too. We swam, the boys kiyacked (sp?), we fished for perch for the trot line, took a float down to the crossing, knocked back a few cold ones, and just sat on the deck watching the river go by. We ended up catching 6 catfish on the trot lines in the 4 to 6 pound range.
It was a perfect weekend and it went by way too fast. We're already talking about doing another one soon.
