Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. All the usual reasons -- family is together, lots to eat, lots to drink, lots of football, and, most importantly, NO STRESS, NO PRESENTS TO BUY, AND NO DECORATIONS!
B.L. (that's Before Lindsay) I could get away with ignoring the Christmas season for the most part, but A.L. (that's After Lindsay for those not able to keep up) it's not so easy to do anymore. I reluctantly brought home the decorations from storage a couple of weeks ago and basically just turned it all over to an overly enthusiastic Lindsay. Imagine this (I know it will be hard for most of you) but she wanted to DO IT ALL BY HERSELF! And you know what ... I let her. And you know what else ... we were both very happy. It was totally unorganized and the tree had maybe 10 decorations on it, but she thought it looked great. And for a week I was just very happy that I wasn't the one who had to get everything out. I let it look that way for a week and then I couldn't take it anymore -- I rearranged everything so there was some semblance of order.
So now that the decorations are out and about, and I've got the presents bought and wrapped, I can't wait for Jolly Ole' St. Nick to come and go. I have a few hopes and wishes for the remainder of 2008, and one of them is that Lindsay will be just as enthusiastic about putting up all of those decorations up as she was with getting them out.

Last weekend Kris wanted to put the outside lights on the house AND she wanted to drag out the Christmas village. I told her that it wasn't worth it to me for that stuff to be up for only a week. She said it could stay up longer than that. No way, Jose! I felt a twinge of guilt but not enough to encourage her to go ahead and do it. BTW, the Christmas tree comes down on December 25th.
