I had high hopes that 2009 was going to be a much better year in regards to loved ones health issues.
My boss, HSW, who fought against throat cancer last year and so far is cancer free (thank God) came down a couple of weeks ago with shingles. I never realized how painful this condition was. You can just look at him and see him gritting his teeth from the pain. He went in last week to a pain management clinic that shot some kind of medicine straight into the nerve in his spine. It helped a little bit, but he's going to have to have another treatment or two before he's rid of the pain.
And then there's my Mom. She's been so compliant with all of these doctors appointments and recommendations, and unfortunately she's not done yet. Her right carotid artery is 80% blocked. She has an appointment with a vascular surgeon on Tuesday of this week to find out how we fix it. I just hope her compliance continues. I think she knows that surgery is what she needs, but she is so freaked out about the whole procedure. And who wouldn't be? Whatever needs to be done needs to be done quickly so she doesn't have time to worry and fret and work herself into a tizzy over it.

Hang in there! I'm keeping your mom in my prayers. Keep me posted.
Oh, argh! Behind on my blog reading. Hope Darlene is doing well. Somebody let me know.
She's doing okay. Right corotid (sp) is 80% blocked. Vascular surgeon is recommending the roter rooter. Has to go back to heart doc on 3-2-09 to get meds straight (she's on blood thinners) and then they will schedule the surgery.
